Mission Training Track
Why?
We are a worldwide family of churches together on a mission and this training programme is designed to help equip people from Newfrontiers churches in the UK who feel God is calling them to a longer-term commitment to another nation. This could be through involvement in church planting or by supporting existing local churches in that nation.
How does it work?
The programme is flexible, recognising the different situations people are in, for example:
- People may be unsure exactly where God wants them to go
- It may be several years before someone is sent to another nation
- Some may feel called short term, others long term
- Both leaders and support people need training
- Some may be single, others may feel called as a family
The training will cover important subjects related to cross-cultural mission including knowing your call, communicating the gospel cross-culturally, relating to other faiths, and issues regarding language learning, to give a few examples. In addition you will have the opportunity to network with others who have a similar call and passion for pioneer work in other nations and to hear from people who are church planting in some of those nations.
The programme is in 3 phases:
Step 1: Mission Awareness Day – an introduction to overseas cross-cultural mission with an overview of where Newfrontiers is working. Also an opportunity for you to discuss your call and explore your next steps.
Step 2: Developing Your Call – A further day of teaching to help you develop your call and prepare you for going to another nation
Step 3: Weekend Training modules – this is a series of weekends to prepare people who are almost ready to go. The teaching will focus on church planting, cultural issues, relating to other faiths, issues like language learning, caring for your family in another nation and how to develop a good support base.
Where?
Courses are run at a central UK location.
- Mission Awareness Days and Developing Your Call occur a couple of times
a year
- Mission Training Weekends: 5 weekends spread over 2 years
